Tom is has his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Colby-Sawyer College.
He is also a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and ASFA Certified Personal Trainer.

Tom is a person in love with the science and philosophy of human performance, both physical and mental. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer for over 10 years, he has had the opportunity to help thousands of people achieve greater levels of health and well being through exercise and personal development.

After graduating with a degree in Exercise Science from Colby-Sawyer College in 2003, Tom has held several personal training positions including most recently, the Director of Health and Wellness position at the Haverhill YMCA. His clients have ranged in ages from 7 to 97. His areas of expertise include fat loss, nutrition, injury prevention, pain free movement, improving “real life” performance, new pattern development, assisted stretching and disease prevention. Tom is proficient in analyzing and correcting movement to facilitate greater quality of life from seniors to professional athletes.

In his spare time Tom enjoys CrossFit, reading, watching documentaries, attending personal development seminars and lectures, basketball, dancing, and talking about fitness with anyone who shares this passion.

Tallie is an energetic fun-loving and passionate dance fitness instructor. Her dedication to spreading positive energy through dance and service is exhibited in her everyday life, which is always inspiring those around her.

Tallie has always loved to dance for as long as she can remember and brought that passion worldwide when chosen to perform with the international cast of “Up With People”. Over 25 years of creating and teaching choreography from solos to full casts of 150 has given her the versatility to adapt to ALL styles of dance for ALL kinds of students.

Tallie discovered ZUMBA® Fitness over 5 years ago and quickly realized that she had found a place for her passion to dance and desire to serve the community. ZUMBA® was the ticket she was looking for: whether it’s teaching a toddler how to waddle like a penguin, a middle schooler how to “dougie”, a mom how to Booty Battle, or a disabled senior citizen how to salsa from a wheelchair... Tallie will find a way to make it Fun, Fabulous and have you Smiling from ear to ear!

You can find Tallie spreading the ZUMBA® Love teaching classes in the Merrimack Valley and donating her time to Special Charity Events in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York.

Lynne Avallone She is a native to the area, with an initial background in aesthetics. For over 20 years Lynne has been a makeup artist and skin care specialists and now with us as a yoga teacher! Lynne's journey with yoga began about 15 years ago. Through the practice of yoga she was able to connect with her divine self, which made her want to teach. She felt an urge to help others unlock their true selves in the way hers was. This lead to Lynne getting certified at Sacred Movement Yoga by Kristina Hupp. Her style is a yoga fusion, mixing Kundalini in with Vinyasa flow along with some core and strength poses.

Lynne is also certified in Reiki. While visiting her daughter in New York City she enjoys free time by taking different yoga classes and is excited to share her experiences with all of you. She is ecstatic about being a part of Power Yoga Evolution and says, “Without yoga, I would never have truly learned how to breathe…”

Rob has been a fitness instructor for 26+ years. His resume' includes tenure as a certified personal trainer, national spokesperson for a major fitness equipment company, hosting a weekly live radio show targeting fitness/health/nutrition, and appearing on dozens of national TV fitness shows from New York to L.A., including "Body by Jake" in Beverly Hills. "Teaching for me is about relationships. Core, spin, yoga, and strength training are just vehicles to create an environment of trust and possibility. When members relax and just focus on their own reasons to exercise, a support community grows from what started out as a group of strangers. Real change is possible, change that matters and sticks month after month, year after year. A well planned then executed fitness program boosts quality of life."

Rob teaches spin on Thursday mornings at 5:45 A.M. “…what’s great about indoor cycling is that our members don’t have to have experience riding outside. In fact, many participants don’t even own a bike”. SPIN class offers the benefit of strength and endurance with no impact to hips, knees, and ankles. “Even when there’s a foot of snow on the ground, we’re Spinning!”

Rob also teaches Yoga on Friday mornings at 5:30 A.M. This beginner/intermediate yoga class is based on Iyengar-style Hatha Yoga. “We focus on relaxation as well as increasing range-of-motion through salutations, holding poses, and using props to experience incremental improvements every yoga practice”.

Susan came upon yoga as a dare from a friend, who told her that yoga would make her a better runner. She was reluctant to believe her friend and to get her friend to stop pestering her about yoga; she took her first class and was hooked immediately.
To Susan, yoga is not a class; rather it’s a journey through life that bridges spiritual, physical and mental elements. Her yoga classes are a fusion of movement, power and balance. Her restorative and deep stretch classes allow students the opportunity to relax, restore and renew. Practicing yoga for the last 8 years has truly taught me that your practice is just like your life, never static and always evolving. Susan has furthered her training in a certifications for ChildLight Yoga, Rasamaya Barre Method as well as Spin.

Raised a good part of her life in Florida, Elyse has had a love of sports and fitness since she was a child. While in school she participated in swim team, dance club, cheerleading and track. At 12, Elyse took her first aerobics class and discovered her true calling. When she was 16, she started teaching aerobics classes on a part time basis and has been going strong for more than 25 years. During her fitness career, she has come to specialize in Spinning, Pilates, Yoga, and Core Training with the stability ball and Bosu. Always striving to reach and inspired more women and men, Elyse strives to make every class a complete one that combines the fusion of exercises with motivating music, spirit and energy. Elyse lives in North Andover with her husband and two children.

Barbara Galarza is a Certified Yoga Instructor (CYT) having successfully completed an accredited two year “Yoga Teacher Training” program. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 500 hour level, with the nationally recognized Yoga Alliance.

Barbara teaches a compassionate style of Hatha Yoga with an emphasis on proper body alignment to promote a safe and beneficial yoga practice. Her classes are designed to strengthen, stretch and balance the body using strong, flowing movement and breath. She welcomes all levels of students into her classes from beginners to more advanced. Her goal is to make every yoga class benefit each student, no matter what level of skill or knowledge they possess.

Barbara teaches mostly evenings at Cedardale, as her days are filled with her other profession working as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in long term care. She is a native of Haverhill but loves her “home in the woods” in New Hampshire. She would love to see you in one of her classes!

Jana Olenio teaches a Vinyasa Flow style of yoga on the mat and Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga on the water. Jana began practicing yoga in 2004 with the hope to reduce stress and anxiety. She began teaching in 2009 after yoga positively transformed and healed her life far beyond her expectations. Her goal is to help others heal themselves by bringing the gift of yoga into the lives of each student.
In March 2012, Jana took her yoga practice to the water and became a certified Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga Teacher. She started SUP YO in May 2012 in the Boston area where she teaches students how to practice yoga on a paddleboard.

I was raised in a home filled with music and dance, and have had a love and a passion for both, my entire life.

Over 3 years ago, I stepped into my first Zumba® class, Instructed by Tallie Abernathy, and within the first minute of being there, I knew that I had found what I had been searching for; the most perfect way for me to express myself, through music and dance fitness. I fell in love with Zumba®!

After a few months, I was encouraged to become an Zumba ® Fitness Instructor, and decided to do so in November 2010. Since then, I have added two more Zumba® certifications to this list. The first is ZumbAtomic®, which is designed to teach Zumba® to children of all ages. The second is Zumba® Toning, which adds light weights to Zumba® routines, toning all different areas of your body, to a variety of latin and multi-cultural rhythms!

At this point, I am actively teaching each of the 3 areas of Zumba® which I am certified in, to men, women and children of all ages! Also, I am a Certified ZIN Member as well.

There are many things that have changed in my life since getting involved in Zumba®. The most amazing and important ones are, the people I have met and the special relationships I have formed with my Zumba® family, and the second is the opportunity to give back, through multiple charity events, doing what I love most in the world. What fascinates me as both a Zumba® student, and as a Zumba® Instructor, is not only the happiness that you feel while taking/instructing a Zumba® class, but the amount of happiness you share and ultimately, receive in the Zumba® community and beyond!

Hi, my name is Kate Squillacioti and I have had a passion for fitness and athletics my whole life. I got away from it when I had my daughter but about a year after I had her I found ZUMBA®. I fell in love with ZUMBA® and working out again. It became my time to get away, get lost in the music and movement and do something for myself. It also lit the spark for me to become and instructor. I now am not only a ZUMBA® instructor but I teach many other forms of group exercise as well. From kids to adults, I love motivating others and helping them find their time. I can't wait to see you in one of my classes!!

I have always loved working out and being active. I played Varsity Basketball in high school, walked on to my college basketball team and played very briefly my freshman year. While continuing to play intramural basketball in college I fell in love with group exercise classes and began teaching step class my junior year. Spending 11 years in corporate America after graduation, I tried to continue my active lifestyle by participating in yoga, spinning, step, bootcamps, running, etc. As the demands of work and life increased, my participation in the things I loved decreased. When I found myself with a medical condition directly linked to my career and home lifestyle, I had to make a change (or a few). One of those changes was getting back to what I loved – exercise! In making time to exercise more (with the help of a supportive husband), I also was fortunate enough to be able to get certified in a few of the things I love – group exercise, kickboxing, TRX Suspension and RIP Training (and reversed my high blood pressure). I believe anyone can participate in any HIIT, Kickboxing, Strength, or TRX class I teach the second they walk in the door because just by walking in, they have taken the first step in the right direction. I believe in modifications for everything and everyone working at their own pace. My mottos are “Form Comes First" and "Quality over Quantity”! I LOVE when I see a participant in my class working at their own speed or doing their modification because then I know they are in tune with their body and their needs while doing their personal best – and that’s all that matters. I just love and appreciate that they let me be part of their process. When I am not teaching classes, I am taking all kinds of them for my own enjoyment, spending time with my beautiful husband and children, and pursuing a nursing degree that I am hoping I will be able to tie into my fitness career.

A member at Cedardale since she was 3 years old, Rory was active on the swim team and synchronized swimming throughout her childhood. She danced for 15 years until graduating high school and was captain of the winter and spring track teams competing in the hurdles and high jump. Rory has a love for fitness and puts all her energy into motivating class participants to push themselves to meet their fitness goals and lead a happy and healthy life. She strives for every participant to feel empowered and strong. She specializes in cardio kickboxing, boot camp, step, core, and functional training. When she is not teaching class, she’s trying to keep up with her two children, Adrie and Nate.

Jessica has been on staff at Cedardale for 10 years, 6 as Junior Program Director. Under her direction Cedardale's Junior program has become one of the strongest in New England. Jessica has coached/developed many top juniors who have gone on to play at the college level as well as several junior teams that she has taken to Nationals. Jessica is USPTA, PTR, and High Performance Certified and played at Wheaton College for 4 years.

Evan's enthusiasm and passion for tennis has made him one of the most popular tennis professionals here at the club. One of the strongest players ever to come out of Andover, Evan played collegiate tennis at the University of Hartford for 4 years. Evan has been with Cedardale for 5 years and is PTR certified.
