Nutrition Counseling FAQs

Who needs nutrition counseling?

Everyone can benefit from nutrition counseling whether you need to lose weight or not. If you have digestive issues, chronic disease risk factors, sports-specific needs, or just need to improve your eating habits, you would benefit from nutrition counseling.

Will you put me on a diet?

No, nutrition counseling is not about a temporary diet. It is about teaching you healthy eating for the rest of your life so you can reach your goals.

What’s the first session like?

In the first session, our dietitians will get a background on you to find out more about your lifestyle, eating habits, medical history, and health goals. Based on the information gathered, you and the dietitian will develop a plan to meet those goals.

How many times do we meet?

The frequency of your sessions depends on your goals. It can range from 2 visits to unlimited visits.

What are the follow-up sessions like?

The follow-up sessions are meant to evaluate the progress you have made towards your goals and what changes need to be made. A typical follow-up session includes a weigh in, review of your eating and exercise habits, continued education, and goal-setting.

I have special dietary needs, can you still help me?

Yes, our dietitians are trained to deal with a wide variety of issues including food allergies, digestive issues, diabetes, and heart disease.

Do I need to be a member of Cedardale Health and Fitness?

No, you do not need to be a member to come in for nutrition counseling.

Will my health insurance cover the cost?

In most cases, health insurance will cover the cost of your session if it is considered medically necessary. Coverage varies by plan so contact your health insurance company regarding medical nutrition therapy or reach out to our nutrition department for assistance: [email protected]
