Swim Instructor

Cedardale Health + Fitness is looking for individuals to join the Aquatics Department to teach both group and private swim lessons. While experience teaching swim lessons is preferred, we will train new instructors in our curriculum. Depending on experience and availability, starting pay can range from $16-$25/ hour. Employee benefits, contingent on availability and commitment, include a complimentary membership to Cedardale Health + Fitness. We are looking for instructors available After School Hours (3:30-6:30pm) and on Weekend mornings (9-12pm).

Key Responsibilities:

Learning and understanding the curriculum progression of our swim lesson program. Attending required swim instructor training sessions.
Instruct participants with an understanding of skill progression, effective class organization, and positive relationships with participants.
Communicate with the Aquatics Director about class participants, class progression, teaching styles, and class goals.
Set up, break down, and store equipment for each class.
Know and understand the Emergency Action Plan and Safety Procedures. Attending safety training sessions.
Teach water safety and enforce safety rules consistently and fairly.
Maintain positive relationships with class participants, parents/guardians, and staff.
Promote other Aquatics programs and be knowledgeable about the pool schedule and programs.

Skills & Experience:

Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
Good communication skills (with both children and adults)/ Responsible
Preferably certified in First Aid and CPR/ American Red Cross Lifeguard or WSI Certification will result in starting at a higher pay rate.
General knowledge of swimming and water safety
Excellent hospitality skills.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
