Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills
30 min class

This class is an introduction to group swim lessons for swimmers ages 9-14 who may be new to or have minimal experience with swim lessons. The goal is to gain confidence and begin to learn basic water skills.  This class is best for swimmers who may need some assistance or swimmers that are anxious.  Skills that will be addressed in this class will be floating and gliding on both the stomach and the back, breathing properly and submerging the face, entering and exiting the water independently (climbing in and out/ jumping).  Water safety, dealing with fears and anxieties around water, and establishing basic skills to improve swimming endurance are the primary focus of this class.

Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills
30 min class

Swimmers should only register for this class if they are completely comfortable with proper breathing technique (being able to exhale underwater and inhale quickly before putting the face back in the water) and are strong enough to swim extended distances on both their stomach and back (15-25 yds).  Swimmers will work on the over-the-water pull and rotary breathing in crawl stroke and improve comfort and strength in backstroke.  Class participants will also be introduced to elementary backstroke (safety swimming and preliminary skills to learn breaststroke), treading water for extended time (20-30 sec), dolphin kick (preliminary skills to learn butterfly), and sitting and kneeling dives.  Swimmers will be challenged with learning how to swim underwater for extended distances, retrieving items underwater, and beginning to combine skills to prepare to learn all 4 competitive strokes.

Level 3 - Competitive Stroke Development

Swimmer to Instructor Ratio 7:1 | 45 min class

Swimmers who have mastered rotary breathing in crawl stroke and can swim crawl stroke, backstroke, and elementary backstroke for extended distances (1 length of the pool) are reach to progress to Level 3. While swimmers will continue to improve their proficiency in those 3 strokes, breaststroke and butterfly will be taught in this class.  Breaststroke will be taught through a progression from elementary backstroke.  Drills and stroke deconstruction will be used so swimmers can learn the correct motions of each of the 4 competitive strokes. The ability to do proper push-offs/ streamlines into each competitive stroke and be able to complete each stroke properly for at least 15yds will be accomplished at this level.  Swimmers will also learn standing dives into streamlines. Instructors will do both in-water and out-of-water instruction to teach this class.

Level 4 - Intro to Swim Team
Swimmer to Instructor Ratio 10:1 | 45 min class

All 4 competitive strokes must be able to be completed for a minimum of 15yds with proper technique to be eligible to register for this class.  Level 4 will work on refining the 4 competitive strokes, learning how to swim at increased speed at each stroke, and will learn proper competitive starts (racing starts) and turns (flip turns and open turns).  The goal of this class is to be able to improve understanding, coordination, and endurance in each of the 4 strokes so that swimmers can swim extended distances to prepare to be part of the Developmental Swim Teams or other competitive swim programs. Swimmers will be taught to understand swimming terminology, complete practice sets, and use the pace clock. Instructors will primarily be out of the water to teach this class.
