Nutrition Counseling FAQs

Why do I need 1-on-1 nutrition counseling?

Everyone’s body, lifestyle, and relationship with food are unique — which means nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all. 1-on-1 nutrition counseling gives you personalized guidance, support, and accountability to help you feel your best. Together, we’ll explore your goals, habits, and challenges to create a plan that truly fits you — without judgment or quick fixes. It’s about progress, not perfection, and helping you feel more confident and at peace with food.

Will you put me on a diet?

Nope — no restrictive meal plans or fad diets here. We don’t believe in rules that make you feel deprived or disconnected from your body. Instead, we’ll focus on building balanced, satisfying eating habits that support your energy, health, and overall well-being. Our approach is about listening to your body’s cues, finding flexibility, and nourishing yourself in a way that feels sustainable — not stressful.

What can I expect at my first session?

Your first session is all about getting to know you. We’ll talk about your goals, your current eating habits, your lifestyle, and any challenges you’ve been facing. There’s no judgment or pressure — just a chance to explore what’s working and what’s not. Together, we’ll start to build a plan that feels realistic, supportive, and aligned with your values.

How long will I need to work with a dietitian?

That depends on your goals and needs. Some people benefit from just a few sessions to get on track, while others prefer ongoing support as they make lasting changes. We’ll discuss what feels right for you — there’s no set timeline or one-size-fits-all approach.

Do you take insurance?

Yes! We accept many major health insurance plans, and we’ll help you navigate your coverage. If nutrition counseling is medically necessary, sessions may be covered in full or in part. We also accept HSA/FSA funds and offer private pay packages if you’re paying out of pocket.

Is nutrition counseling only for weight loss?

Not at all. While some people come to us with weight-related goals, our work goes far beyond the scale. We focus on improving your relationship with food, supporting your energy, digestion, mood, and overall health. Whether your goal is to manage a condition, boost performance, or simply feel better in your body — we’re here to help you get there in a balanced, compassionate way.

What if I have a complicated history with dieting or food?

You’re not alone — many of our clients have tried countless diets before coming to us. Our approach is rooted in kindness and trust, helping you rebuild a positive relationship with food. We’ll move away from restriction and guilt, and toward nourishment, satisfaction, and self-care.
